I am a professional violist with the San Diego Symphony and joined the orchestra in 1988. As a symphony musician I perform classical, ballet, opera, and pops music. With the SDS, I have made classical and pops CDs.
I grew up in St. Louis and initially studied with members of the St. Louis Symphony. I have a Bachelor of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music, and a Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. I attended music festivals at Interlochen, Aspen, Blue Hill, and the Grand Tetons. I also studied Alexander Technique for 10 years, and I teach healthy, relaxed, pain-free playing.
Teachers and coaches with whom I studied are currently on the faculties of the Peabody Institute of Music, Manhattan School, Juilliard School, Cleveland Institute, Curtis Institute, Eastman School of Music, and Indiana University. I also studied with principal players of the Baltimore Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, and St. Louis Symphony, and with the Guarneri Quartet.
For five years, I was the SD Symphony’s Delegate to the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians.
